Between 1937 and 1941, Japanese flight suits were made of a heavy wool gaberdine material that ranged in color from dark chocolate brown, to a dark brown with a dark green tint. They were manufactured in a one or two-piece style, and were fitted in small, medium, and large sizes. Depending on the climate, Navy personnel often used them as an overall with their service uniform underneath.

During periods of extremely warm temperatures, it was common for them to wear only the flight suit. The early 2-piece flight suite (separate jacket and pants), had a thin black cotton lining on the waist of the pants, as well as one large pleated button-down pocket on each leg. The waist was secured by a steel belt buckle and belt loops. In late 1944, the Navy continued to produce flight suits in wool gabardine, but lack of materials resulted in production limitations, changing the fabrics to cotton-silk and cotton satin materials.

Plastic buttons were switched to wood; pleats in knee pockets simplified or eliminated altogether; belt and buckle were reduced to two straps that tied around the waist; and ankle buttons were eliminated and replaced by two small ties. Manufactured in a dark brown with dark green tint cotton-satin material, this lightweight Navy summer flight suit is in EXCELLENT condition for it's age!

Though it does show some very slight wear, stains, holes from storage & some mothing, and some slight fraying in small areas, it is still VERY solid, with vibrant colors throughout! All zippers are present, but many of the teeth are missing, sadly (so only the main zip is 100% functional at the moment). It features one large breast pocket for maps, pistol, and other accessories. Also has smaller pockets at the side.

All wood buttons are present, and the manufacture ink label is still VERY legible. Appears to be a size small/medium.

Come with the RARE and often missing waist belt. Due to the style and features of these pants, they date from around late 1944 to 1945. PERFECT for any collection or display! PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL YOU ARE INVOICED!

Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items. Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period.
