Vickers Wellington Mk. X Royal Air Force 172 Scale VERY RARE
The Vickers Wellington is a British twin engine, long range medium bomber, manufactured by the Vickers Armstrongs manufacturing company. The Wellington had its maiden flight on 15 June 1936. It was introduced into service in October of 1938. The primary users were the Royal Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force. This reproduction of the Wellington is a Type 440 Mark X. This version was the most widely produced variant of which 3,804 were manufactured. This model was upgraded to include the 1,675 horsepower Hercules XVIII powerplant. The Mark X was the basis for a number of Coastal Command versions. This aircraft belonged to the Royal Air Force No. They were stationed at the Royal Air Force Dhubalia in India. The squadron operated in Burma under the South East Asia Command (SEAC). SEAC was the allied headquarters overseeing operations in the Southeast Asian theatre during World War Two. The squadron conducted daylight bombing raids on Japanese held airfields and supply lines. 99 Squadron initially flew the Wellington, but later transferred to the Consolidated B-24 Liberator.
