Very Rare Art Deco Royal Worcester Figure Of A Ballet Dancer With Jewelling
Here is a very rare First Version Royal Worcester figure in a theatrical pose of a columbine modelled as ballet dancer. Dressed in a black short tutu with fine gilt and green enamel jewelling to the front and back with a white and gilt undergarment, standing on tiptoe in black tights beside a gnarled tree stump support decorated with applied roses and green leaves. The ballet dancer is also wearing a black hat with a fine gilt pattern to the top and had a trailing white and gilt ribbon. The figure stands on a black and gilt tapering circular base. The figure measures 9 1/2 inches high. Marked to the base with puce Royal Worcester back stamp and date code for circa 1920 with a registration number 661899 and shape number 2679 and a gilt K. To the other side of the base underneath it has a painted gilt. The figure was introduced in 1917 and was withdrawn by 1930. The modeller of this figure appears unknown. CONDITION: The figure is structurally sound with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a little gilt loss to the base as in picture 10 and also a little gilt loss to the ribbon hanging from her hat as in picture 9.
