Antique DIETZ Hot Blast LANTERN from the late 1800s - FRESH from a Pennsylvania FARM ESTATE. Extremely RARE model called a ROYAL DASH LAMP - a similar later lantern was named the Buckeye No. Features an interior Magnifying Lens to concentrate light beam ahead. Back reflector panel stamped "ROYAL DASH LAMP" and has a broad Spring Clip to hold the lantern on the dashboard of a carriage or wagon (see photos).
Font stamped DIETZ - NEW YORK U. Clear glass globe with no markings. Fuel Cap, Globe and Burner all present and seem intact - wick knob turns but I'm not forcing it. Bottom of font shows a possible old hole repair - not fuel tested.
Small seam split on one side tube at handle bale hole (see photo). Measures overall about 14" high - 19" to top of extended bale handle. Some expected surface rust as shown - I do not know if the paint is original or not. Antique DIETZ Hot Blast ROYAL DASH LAMPFarm FreshNOT a Buckeye #2" is in sale since Saturday, May 8, 2021.
