Roman Imperial Trajan AE Sestertius ARMENIA, TIGRIS & EUPHRATES VERY RARE
Reference : RIC II 642 Date : 116-117 CE Obverse : IMP CAES NER TRAIANO OPTIMO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS VI P P; bust, laureate, draped, right Reverse : ARMENIA ET MESOPOTAMIA IN POTESTATEM P R REDACTAE S C; Trajan, laureate, in military dress, standing front, head right, holding spear and parazonium; on ground reclining figures of Armenia, Tigris and Euphrates Mint : Rome Size : 33.4 mm Weight : 21.27 grams. VERY RARE MESOPOTAMIAN CONQUEST ISSUE. This coin was struck at the end of Trajan's reign to commemorate his invasion, subjugation, and conquest of Mesopotamia.

The campaign was crowned by the capture of the Parthian capital of Ctesiphon in 116 CE, but the new provinces were not to be held long. Rebellions soon broke out across the conquered lands and Trajan's successor, Hadrian, chose to largely withdraw from these Parthian territories. The coin is in decent condition for a rare type. A few cleaning scatches and overzealous cleaning have exposed the underlying. Flan flaw at 5 o'clock.

The most important thing is that you are happy with your new coin(s)! No explanation is required for the return, but it would be appreciated. Don't see what you're looking for?

Just shoot me a message, I might have it but haven't gotten around to listing it!
