Imperial German, WW1, Extremely Rare, Bavarian Air Force Pilots Badge in Silver. Imperial Germany's Air Squadrons were reorganized in the summer of 1916 into the following Hunting Squadrons (Jastas). The predominant one was the Kingdom of Prussia with 67.

Followed by the Kingdom of Bavaria with 10. Followed by the Kingdom of Saxony with 7 and finally the Kingdom of Wurttemberg with 4.

Over the 40 years of collecting European Militaria I've only seen a few Bavarian Pilots Badges and never one in Silver (see photos). This is an extremely rare item for a collector of Imperial German Flight Badges. Pictured in the listing is Eduard Ritter von Schleich who was a top ace from the Kingdom of Bavaria wearing an identical Pilots badge below an Iron Cross first class and a Pour le Merite on his neck. I have several German Army and Navy Pilots Badges some of which are engraved to the Pilot listed separately as well as a Bavarian Air Force Observers badge in the original jewelers box. There is a similar pilot's badge listed separately on another site at more than double the cost. The Bavarian Officer's Visor Caps is NOT included and listed separately.
