Offered is a matching set of five Bing & Grøndahl Denmark Custom Royal Welch FusiliersOfficers Mess Dishes. Circa 1230s- small porcelain relish dishes, trinket dishes each bearing the B&G Copenhagen Denmark mark and form number 2073. Exquisite condition, beautiful glaze, No chips or cracks This B&G custom "Blue Traditional" pattern porcelain china is from the Officer's Mess of the Royal Welch Fusiliers, a historic regiment of the British Army. Monogram DetailsThe central insignia features:The Royal Cypher: The intertwined initials "RW" stand for the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

Prince of Wales's Feathers: The three ostrich plumes surmounting the monogram signify the Prince of Wales, who traditionally served as the Commander-in-Chief of the regiment. History and ContextProduction: Bing & Grøndahl was specifically commissioned to supply this fine dinnerware for the regiment's officers' mess. Style: While Royal Copenhagen is famous for its "Blue Fluted" pattern, Bing & Grøndahl used the name "Blue Traditional" for their similar hand-painted floral designs. Bing & Grøndahl was founded in Copenhagen in 1853 and later merged with its main competitor, Royal Copenhagen, in 1987. Ach dish features hand-painted blue decoration with an intertwined monogram beneath a three-feather crest motif.

All five examples are marked consistently and appear to have remained together as a group. Relish dishes are among the specialty forms that are often separated from their original services over time. Finding five matching examples with identical decoration and markings in perfect condition is increasingly uncommon. A very RARE distinctive group for collectors of Danish porcelain, monogrammed china, armorial wares, and unusual serving pieces. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description and condition report.
