Antique Leather Cover Imperial Shakespeare - Volume I & II - VERY RARE Books! These stunning Imperial Shakespeare books published by Virtue & Co. Of London appear to be very rare. I have spent countless hours researching and trying to find another set like this and have not.

With notes included by Charles Knight, my best guess from researching would be somewhere around 1860. There are many illustrations throughout with very fine full-page steel engravings by select artists. Leather covers are ornately decorated featuring embossed gold figure of William Shakespeare on the front and back covers. The books show some age-related wear as shown in photos.

Inside pages are in very good condition. Please refer to photos for details. A very fine set of this important edition in its finest format.

Volume I has 810 pages and 26 steel engravings. Volume II has 778 pages and 15 steel engravings.

Each book measures: 11 3/4" x 15 1/4" x 3. Set weighs: approximately 25 lbs.
