Resembling a hand-held fan or ping pong paddle, these computers were considered to be somewhat heavy, considering they were designed for use in an aircraft. When not in use, thy could be suspended by a hook and chain. Saburo Sakai mentions using this flight computer quite extensively, and jokingly wrote that it doubled quite nicely as as a hand-held fan when in a warm cockpit. Made of a lightweight aluminum between 1944 and 1945, this paddle style flight computer is in SUPERB used condition! It could properly calculate Time, Speed, Distance, and Altitude Pressure/Density. Ome marks, scratches and wear, but nothing that detracts. Produced later in the war, it features a wood handle, as opposed to aluminum. Interestingly, this is the ONLY Army variant I have seen (all others are Navy)... Like most Japanese items is an VERY RARE, PERFECT for any collection or display! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. Although my passion is the Me109, I do offer many other German Aircraft Fw190, Me262, etc. , as well as USAF and Japanese items.
Occasionally I do offer many non-vintage items such as prints and art relating to the time period. Use is solely based on my authorization only. The item "WW2 Imperial Japanese Army MODEL 3 FLIGHT COMPUTER CALCULATOR VERY RARE" is in sale since Thursday, July 2, 2020.
